Marwin Feldman introduced
five new members Jacob L. Debski, Paul Mazuchowski,
Thomas W. McGraith, Gene J. Renzoni,
and Tom Schwartz. As of this date 21 members have not paid dues for 2007, and
we have taken in five new members leaving possible openings for 16 people from
our waiting list. The March Newsletter will include the current membership list
for 2007.
Stev Imerese introduced two visitors, Jay & Chris and thanked Marwin and John for their work on the membership for 2007. Jim
Rupracht wins the 50-50 drawing and collects $20.
Rich Mialki asked all members to think about the Erie County Fair and Make a
Wish. If you would bring items to the meeting each month, when August comes we
would have many items ready for sale. If
you need ideas of what to make, confer with Rich or any of the older members
who have experienced the fun of being at the fair. Muriel Kummer
stated she would supply chains for chain pulls that members would make for the
fair, call her at 941-6764 if you’re going to make them.
Jim Hilburger stated there will be a Barb’s
Barn experience lead by himself on “Production Turning and Sharpening” on March
17th. He expects eight (8) people in a class and the cost will be $5
for barn use, and $5 for wood. Contact Jim 652-3096 or Barb 652-4156 to sign
up. Students must supply and sharpen their own tools, and turn with them.
The Sorby
Tools factory people will be doing a demonstration of their product line on
Wednesday, February 28th . The demo will be
held at the
Show & Tell: Thanks for sharing to, Bob Ball – Wine glasses with wood stems, pens, Jim Vasi – trick of having arrow thru
heart and goblet, Rich Mialki – laminated pens, Norm
Kosmerl – humming bird feeder, Steve Imerese – segmented
bowl & segmented plant vase, Muriel Kummer – pepper
mills, Tony Zelinski
– clock on a wood turned disc, Dick Mruk – plywood
bowl.
Demo: Jim Rupracht did a great job
explaining & demonstrating how he makes picture frames.
Next Meeting: Thursday March 1st, 2007
The demo will be by Paul Madej of the Lockport Woodworkers creating pen blanks with
acrylics, then turning them.
