The demonstration was on hollowed tree ornaments done by Rich Mialki

Rich showed the technique of router cut inlays ala Jack Brown

The ornament is roughly shaped, leaving sufficient strength, before hollowing is done

Rich does the initial hollowing with a Forstner bit

He finishes the hollowing with a curved hollowing tool

The finial stock is mounted between centers for rough turning

The heavy cuts are taken while it is securely fastened

The tail center is removed to allow the finial to float for final cuts

The hollowed body and finial are assembled for the final ornament
