Turners 2 February 2008 Meeting

The Turners 2 February 2008 meeting gets kicked off

There was quite a cross section of show and tell items

Rich Mialki gets the show and tell started

John O'Neil shows a cherry platter

Bob Sonner shows his candlestick bases done in birdseye maple

A cherry burl hollow form and figured bowl were shown by Rick Crowe

Jake Debski showed a hollow form and a lidded box

The demonstration for the evening was done by Rich Mialki

Rich showed his techniques for making miniature turnings

The key is working from the tailstock end towards the headstock

The heavy work needs to be done while there is maximum support towards the mounting

Hollowing, then shaping, then thinning, then sanding, until it is ready for separation
