Turners 2 January 2005 Meeting

Some of the members start arriving for the meeting

The January meeting wound up with a big turnout

President Kurt Hertzog gets the meeting started

We had many new members along with several visitors

There was a nice variety of items on the show and tell table

After a short business meeting, Rick Wierzbicki leads off the show and tell

Paul Mazuchowski shows his latest turnings

Ken Schweickert shows his latest bowl

With the evening being "peppermills", Sam Ciccia brought in a variety of peppermills

Ed Katz shows a Cherry goblet recently done

Rich Mialki had a variety of items for show and tell

Kurt Hertzog shows some of his recent work

An adaptation of his square turnings was shown by Jake Debski

The lucky winner of the 50/50 was none other than Mike Hachey

After a short break, Jim Hilburger gets his demonstration started

Recently, Jim has been cranking out a variety of laminated wood peppermills

Jim started by explaining how he creates his base stock

He has a blank mounted after roughing to demonstrate the process from beginning to end

For speed and repeatability, Jim uses a story stick to mark off the critical dimensions

A story stick is a simple device with notches for marking the turning stock using a pencil
