Getting setup for the Jimmy Clewes demo on Saturday, April 30th, hosted by the Pembroke Woodturners Guild

The demonstration was held in the auditorium of the Pembroke High School

The audience starts to arrive and get settled while Jimmy checks out the equipment

At 9am, Jimmy gets the day long demonstration started

Jimmy get started on a winged, lidded box as the first of four projects for the day

He starts with a rectangular piece and turns at high speed

By turning it high rpm, the quality of the intermittent cut is improved

After completing the base, Jimmy works on the lid of the box

He finishes up and passes it to the audience for review

Jimmy gets started on his second project, a green wood, deep hollowed vase

Leaving some bark for a natural edge, he strips the bark, puts on a spigot and mounts it in a chuck

Jimmy demos the hollowing using a variety of hollowing tools

Taking a quick break for lunch, the group has a Subway sub lunch as part of the demo fee

Jimmy's guidelines at the height to width to base dimensions for hollowed turnings

Jimmy also quickly does a long stemmed goblet in Walnut with a captive ring

His last piece for the day is a shallow turning with surface decoration and dyeing

As contrast for the hollowing, Jimmy puts in silver leaf
