Turners 1 August 2006 Meeting

Shaping is a matter of taste and there's not much room to get too wild

With the shape done and sanded, Jim shows his technique for finishing

Once the finish is on, it's time for the cork

In short order, he's made a finished wine stopper

Here's a clever idea for cutting off the excess dowel and cork material

While the meeting had a smaller than normal attendance, there was a great interest in Jim's presentation

Jim moved into the making of a stick pen

After the drilling, turning, sanding, and finishing (all in moments), he parts it off

   

A little finish on the end and it's done

A last tip using a plastic fitting over the end of the tail center to prevent marring
